§ 10. Application for Employment.

All applicants for employment shall file their application in writing with the board. Application forms shall be furnished by the board. The board shall conduct all examinations and, whenever an examination is to take place, the board shall notify the applicants in writing. Each applicant for examination shall pay to the city clerk the sum of two dollars as an examination fee to defray the expense of the examination, and the receipt therefor shall be attached to his application. Said sum shall be placed in the general fund of the city. Said fee requirement may be waived by the board for good cause shown or if the payment thereof would create an undue hardship on the applicant.
